Just the Facts!

These were Lori’s commitments when she ran for election in 2020:

Join Lori in creating Excitement about her three E priorities:

Enrichment, meaning general plan compliance, water sustainability, partnership with the YMCA, maintained streets and a regional park.  Education, through communication to include, but not be limited to, providing for our future generation, investing in our residents (the stakeholders of Prescott Valley), and professional development.  Economic Development, increasing revenue (specifically sales tax revenue) and attracting new businesses that create jobs.  Prescott Valley does not receive any property tax, and I don’t ever want to implement one, so growing retail business is very important to the Town’s future.

2024 – Let’s see how Lori voted YES and/or has supported projects to fulfill her “E’s” from 2020 to make things happen in OurPV.

Enrichment

The 2035 General Plan update was recommended by the Town Council and then approved by the voters in November 8, 2022. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pTL9dy5PzFH-ppcqoAciV1QkIvteKVW1/view

The Council and staff have taken more proactive steps in the last few years than in the history of the Town with regard to stormwater management and conservation initiatives, this will continue to assure sustainability in the future. https://www.prescottvalley-az.gov/1260/Water-Resource-ManagementStrategy

For 2023-24 the Town Council appropriated for capital improvement projects, including roads, in the amount of $29M, more in one fiscal year than ever before, https://topvgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=dda2524d65ea435284d8efb36500c820

In November 2023, members of the Council voted to approve the YMCA. Providing for young residents is a priority, evidenced by the recent remodel of the Prescott Valley Boys and Girls Club, made possible by a total of $1.7M from Community Development Block Grant and American Rescue Plan Act funds.

One of the most exciting projects in 2023 was a collaborative effort to purchase 2,284 acres of property on Glassford Hill for the Glassford Dells Regional Park.  Park Capital Improvement projects for 2023-24 totaled over $2.5M for projects from playground improvements at Viewpoint Park to multiuse path improvements and everything in between. https://topvgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=dda2524d65ea435284d8efb36500c820

Education

Town – The best way to describe the progress of education well into the future is the Town Council driven strategic plan. First developed in 2021 and updated in 2024 to assure any investment by the Town Council be it for residents to professional development is all compliant with Vision 2024! https://www.prescottvalley-az.gov/1188/Prescott-Valley-Strategic-Plan

While the Town Council has no jurisdiction over the Humboldt Unified School District (HUSD) or Yavapai College, they are vital partners to OurPV and Lori has repeatedly expressed support for both organizations.

The Humboldt Unified School District Governing Board voted in February to, “Provide new opportunities for all students at every site.” With a plan to add 6th graders to middle schools, move Glassford Hill students to the new Pronghorn Ridge Middle School, and make Glassford Hill part of the High School to expand technical training and career exploration, our local school district streamline operations, improve efficiency, and better serve our students, staff, and community.

Yavapai College – We can all agree that there is a critical need for health science education programs that develop the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals, meet the demands of the industry, provide quality care to patients of all ages, and give students real-world jobs that offer them a living wage. Yavapai College is addressing that need with plans for a 38,000 square foot health science center on the Prescott Valley campus. The best part of this is that we get to retain local talent, our kids stay put, receive an education, give back to the community and raise a family in OurPV.

Economic Development

The best is yet to come regarding Economic Development. Last year the Town Council appropriated for the Town’s first Economic Development Department, hired Rounds Consulting Group, and made an investment to drive tourism.

Rounds Consulting Group is doing extensive research on trends to develop a strategy for future economic development attraction including but not limited to tourism, entertainment opportunities and attracting businesses that will pay higher wages.

On January 30, 2024, at the inaugural State of the Town, Mayor Kell Palguta announced the launching of a new tourist website, https://explorepvaz.com/
