Lori Hunt is proud to be from the Midwest, born and raised in Indiana. She graduated from Indiana State University with a double major in Economics and Urban Regional Planning Studies.
Lori joined the Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce in 2019 and became a member of the Chamber’s Executive Board. She served on the Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation Commission and has served as a host at Park Collective. Other volunteer commitments include a focus on the wellbeing of kids as a member of the Humboldt Education Foundation and Matforce. Lori started the Illegal Fentanyl Working Group, a subcommittee of Matforce, to educate school aged kids about the dangers and devastation of Illegal Fentanyl. Most recently her volunteering includes a focus on vulnerable populations, being those experiencing homelessness, with Agape House, House of Hope, and A Safe Place.
In 2022, during a serious teacher shortage, Lori received an emergency teaching credential to substitute teach grades K-12 for Humboldt Unified School District. She enjoys sharing with the kids, at all grade levels, about town government and how their voices can be heard.
Lori has an extensive 30-year background in City and County government, bringing experience in Economic Development, Community Development and Planning. Lori has facilitated strategic planning sessions for public jurisdictions and nonprofits and is a successful consensus builder. She understands the responsibilities of the Council and the duties of Town Staff, is very familiar with the Council/Manager form of Government and is appreciative that local government is a nonpartisan position.
Lori is retired and lives with her husband Dene in the community of Quailwood. Dene retired from the Humboldt Unified School District, working at both Liberty Traditional School and Coyote Springs Elementary. “Mr. Dene” is how your kids warmly refer to him to this day. Dene and Lori are members at QuadCity Church PV where you can find Dene working the soundboard and Lori teaching Sunday School. The couple enjoys hiking and camping with their dogs – Nahla and Abby. They enjoy entertaining and hosting friends and family in their home. The couple’s blended family consists of three adult children, a son-in-law and three grandchildren.
I’m running for re-election to the Prescott Valley Town Council because I love what makes Prescott Valley “OurPV” – our small-town feel and investment in safety; the richness of our service nonprofits and open spaces; the commitment to expand healthcare services and growing educational opportunities. As your Councilmember, I want to make sure that OurPV remains the premier place to raise a family, enjoy retirement, play a sport, visit a park and make sure all families can afford a home. Lori Hunt
